The basics

What is immigration case management software?

It is the system an immigration firm runs its cases in after a client signs. It stores clients and family members, fills USCIS and other government forms from one set of answers, sends questionnaires, tracks deadlines, holds documents and handles billing. General legal tools like Clio Manage do some of this. Immigration-specific tools like Docketwise, LollyLaw, eimmigration and INSZoom add form libraries and e-filing.

After the client signs

The system your cases run in.

  • One set of answers. Fills USCIS and other government forms.
  • General legal tools. Clio Manage does some of this.
  • Immigration-specific tools. Docketwise, LollyLaw, eimmigration and INSZoom add form libraries and e-filing.

The comparison

What is the best immigration case management software in 2026?

It depends on firm size and practice mix. For a small immigration firm, Docketwise and LollyLaw make a natural short list, since both are built around immigration forms. eimmigration lists larger firms and non-profits as its users. INSZoom serves attorneys and multinational employers. Clio Manage and MyCase suit firms that practice more than immigration. The table shows what each vendor publishes.

Before the retainer

Does case management software handle intake and lead follow-up?

Partly. Docketwise has a lead CRM on Pro, MyCase offers intake forms and a prospective client pipeline, and Clio sells Grow for intake.1, 7, 6 What most case tools do not do is answer the phone at night, text back a missed call in Spanish, or follow up for weeks. That is the job of an intake CRM that sits in front of your case management software.

Switching systems

How do you switch case management systems without losing client data?

Plan it like a filing deadline. Export everything from the old system first: clients, family members, cases, documents, notes and billing. Map each field to the new system before you import. Move closed cases in a batch and open cases one by one, and run both systems side by side for a few weeks. Check a sample of records by hand before you cancel the old one.
